The Formula Goblin aims to inspire children ages 10 – 14 years old to take an interest in engineering in a fun and innovative way. The project challenges children to build their very own functioning and drivable electric car. To get started, a school would purchase a kit car that includes all of the basic components, motor, and batteries needed to build and run the car.
Building the Goblin kit car and designing the bodywork covers curriculum subjects in design, technology, and science, including circuits, forces, materials, friction, and structures. In addition to these core subjects, the Goblin has been successfully incorporated into art projects and language arts.
